Ugly Chinese Canadian & Ugly white Canadian

17 Nov Posted by tUCC in Miscellaneous, Politics | 2 comments

I was reading a Chinese newspaper editor’s personal weblog this morning …sitting in my gonch as usual, and read a comment posting by one Adrian MacNair:

http://chineseinvancouver.blogspot.com/2006/11/on-human-rights.html

This Adrian fellow actually presents an interesting observation of how the lower mainland’s Chinese Canadian community is ghettoizing itself by not being mainstream enough.

A few items he pointed out correctly observes the image of why the Chinese community in Vancouver is ugly. I would have chuckled and left it at that… since I too, slap the same ugly CC community in the face …hoping to wake it up by showing them a sad side that some Canadians see and interpret.

Well… upon digging into Mr MacNair  and into his other postings on other blogs, you uncover some interesting insights about him, with his dissertations – things like:

“Continue down this path and watch Canada’s Conservative Anglo-French European values destroyed, one Chinese immigrant after another.” and, “Currently it seems China is poised to annex East Vancouver…”

Both these Adrian McNair postings are from http://www.damianpenny.com/comments/display/8065), then some of the interesting ideas this fellow had, became a bit suspect.

A lot of stereotypical generalizations.

Now that’s just plain NOT FAIR!

I wanted to be the only loose nut here in town.

DANG… I was originally going to build on MacNair’s ideas and have fun synergizing with another Canadian.

Nevertheless, now you know what Canadians think. If I had to be sacrificed in order so that the Chinese know… so be it. It is enough that people know they are not alone out there in their opinion that a culture clash is coming in Western Canada.

    Are you ready?

    Adrian-

Interesting candid thoughts. I think you may be right… and that day will come. That’s why I am trying to deliver the message from within. Hope the Messenger doesn’t get shot.

Chinese Cdns by being insular will be reaping the weeds they sow today. I have written many times to our local papers in the past slapping “new” Canadians on their inability (or ability to manipulate) to adapt Canadian values. And what is this “value” you may ask? In a nutshell, sum it up as reciprocated respect and fairness (we handed our open door to many over on a platter). A concept that may be alien to some folks. The papers of course, has never published my letters. Gutless wonders.

There is a cure for all of this. It’s called time.

I figure once they raise a family here in Canada, spend time in the community (ie. not leave their brats behind and hide back in their respective homelands to avoid taxes), join a school’s PAC committee, pay some real taxes and sweat for…oh, around a generation I guess… raising and watching their kids grow up and become good working taxpayers…then they are Canadianized.
