Vancouver, the City of Leaks

Amazing thing about Whodunits.

Make a post about thoughts on the identity of the Olympic Leaker in our Leaky Condo City, the internet traffic to this site explodes.

This morning, the UGLY Chinese Canadian received a number of Facebook messages, emails, blog comments and yes, even phone calls… requesting:

  1. my source of info, and the identity of the 2010 leak, or,
  2. not participate in this nonsense.

I guess mysteries and watching others get hurt is a favourite pastime for humans.

The UGLY Chinese Canadian is just bloody disappointed that real election concerns are lost in this civic entertainment fiasco. Here’s a snippet of comments made to reader “happy” from my earlier post:

  1. tUCC Says:

Hi Happy-It’s all about rule of law and procedure. And yes it Stinks.I agree that bailing out a bunch of runny nose developers is akin to asking for a kick in the crotch. I don’t want my tax dollars channeled to these clowns any more than you or others would. But everyone involved in the decision and overview voted unanimously in favour. I just assume there was no other choice.

But the real distraction now is that this Leak issue has become the biggest detractor to the entire civic election.

Real issues have been ignored and overlooked. Blind sheep followers in both main civic parties just cheer along …like brainless zombies.

I think you’d agree that it’s wrong that some have chosen to cloud real issues by using this breach of public trust as a platform …ignoring real issues.

  2. tUCC Says:
Oh, and about Ms Lo. Only she can speak for herself… I think it’s apalling that there’s been no official statement from her office — vacation absence or no vacation. A business doesn’t stop just because a CFO has gone AWOL. That’s why we have procedures and protocols in place. Is the City that messed up that we don’t have a “plan B” in place when one of their executives go MIA?

It’s sheer incompetence on behalf of the City. Allowing speculation and innuendos to fester all over the place – and taking away the focus of real election issues.

What a shame. Real issues got sideswipe by crass incompetence.

There you have it. This Leak has overshadowed real civic matters. And it’s wrong.

Real election concerns, like mucho Grow-ops in this City (…maybe those multi-national corner Hydroponic stores have something to do with it), kids selling candy to raise funds to buy learning material (like books), and empty Condos held by speculators… these queries have been lost.

What will be interesting, after all this is over, is the simple fact that Mr Gregor Robertson of Vision Vancouver, will come out of this Olympic leaky loan limbo squeaky clean… but not his friends who have taken the fall for him.
