To all our world’s Olympic Athletes
Welcome to Vancouver!
Man we’re pumped!
Less than one week until the Olympics!
As a winter sport fiend, the UGLY Chinese Canadian and his friends are all set to help make this one of the best Olympics ever. A bunch of family members and friends got their swanky new blue Olympic volunteer jackets. We’ve invited many out of town guests to stay with us in our beautiful city… on the condition that they all carry Canadian flags and cheer on our athletes
Heck, my kid has his Olympic volunteer badge atop his computer… like a shrine.
Next week will see a few of our friends carry the Olympic torch across town… wish we could also see our buds up at Whistler village too. One of my best pals has been given the honour to run two blocks… and we’ll definitely be posting his mug shots on this blog.
Our eyes will be following our nation’s sport, hockey, as well as the figure skating competitions.
But the all time favourite event for moi, are the freestyle skiing events.
Here’s a bit of background on freestyle skiing, and the connection to Vancouver… via an old family friend, Wayne Wong.

WAYNE WONG! I totally dig it!
Hot Diggity Wayne Dog!
We had a poster of Wong in our house.
My brother had a pair of K2 Wong Comp skis…
Definitely one of the few positive Chinese-North American role models – other than Bruce Lee.
I should have said I wanted to be a Free-style skier like Wayne Wong, on my video application to be a torch bearer for the City of Vancouver.
My brother and I learned to do lots of Freestyle ballet and mogul tricks. Tip Rolls, cross-overs, leg-breakers, 360’s etc. I could even occasionally perform “The Wong-Banger” pole flip.
