We’re more than just multi-generational Canadians, eh…
This blog was initiated by a lonely banana based out of Vancouver… but has since been expanded to a number of like-minded bananas and FOBs*, contributing to this blog.
* FOB= Fresh off the Boat
Vancouver is a westcoast Canadian city, and is the anglo name for XwMuthkwium (Musqueam)… traditional lands of the Stó:lô Nation (Coast Salish peoples); better known as Saltwater City (Haam Sui Fhow) to long time CbC’s (Canadian born Chinese) the Bananas.
Banana Pride
This blog celebrates all that is Banana.
A banana is an ethnic asian person who was born or raised outside Asia… spending much of their formulative years in the “West” (eg. Australia, Britain, Canada, the USA, etc).
This blog started with, and will continue the exploration of Chinese-Canadian roots and will now define the arts, culture and pride of bananas. Ideas on what it is to be banana.
It’s time we celebrate the culture that is North-American born Chinese.
Yes, there will be the occasional whiney blog post.
